Privacy Policy

Scenario Zero ("we", "us", "the app") is a multiplayer social survival game. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your data. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

1. Information We Collect

Player name & avatar: You choose a display name and avatar when joining a game. Neither is linked to any account or real identity.

Game data: Your outlines, picks, quiz answers, and scores are stored temporarily in Google Firestore to enable multiplayer gameplay. This data is associated with a random session ID, not a personal account.

Comic images: Each round generates a 6-panel comic image hosted in Google Cloud Storage. Images are accessible only via unguessable URLs tied to the room and are automatically eligible for deletion when the room expires.

Microphone (optional): If you use voice input for writing your survival plan, audio is processed locally on your device using the Web Speech API. No audio is recorded, stored, or transmitted to our servers.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

• No email addresses or real names
• No passwords or account credentials
• No payment information
• No location data
• No contacts or phone data
• No advertising identifiers or tracking pixels
• No analytics or usage tracking

3. How We Use Data

Game data (player names, outlines, picks, quiz answers, scores) is used solely to run the multiplayer game session. This data is stored in Google Firebase and is eligible for deletion when game rooms expire.

4. AI Processing

To generate game content we send the following to AI providers:

• Anthropic (Claude): player outlines, picks, scenario context, and previous-round outcomes — used to generate beat narrations, personalized action choices, and trivia questions. Processed in real-time per the Anthropic API; not retained by Anthropic beyond the API request.
• Google (Gemini): beat narrations, player avatar reference images, and scenario context — used to generate the 6-panel comic illustration for each beat. Processed in real-time per the Gemini API.

No real-name, account, or contact information is sent to either provider — only player display names and game state.

5. Data Retention

Game room data is ephemeral. Rooms and all associated player data, picks, outlines, and generated comic images are not permanently stored and are eligible for cleanup when rooms expire. We do not maintain any long-term database of player activity.

6. Third-Party Services

7. Children's Privacy

Scenario Zero is rated 12+ due to fictional disaster themes. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since we do not collect personal information from any users, there is no children's data to protect beyond what is described in this policy.

8. Your Rights

Since we do not collect personal information or maintain user accounts, there is no personal data to access, modify, or delete. Game data is ephemeral and cannot be linked back to you.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
